1. Penglipuran Village — One of the World's Cleanest
Located in Bangli, Penglipuran is a traditional Balinese village that preserves its original architecture and layout. Bamboo-lined main streets, neatly arranged traditional houses, and cool mountain air. No motorized vehicles inside the village. Visit in the morning for the quietest atmosphere.
2. Bias Tugel Beach — Hidden Paradise in the East
This small beach in Karangasem is hidden behind cliffs and accessible only by a walking path. Crystal clear water, white sand, and rarely any tourists. Great for snorkeling and enjoying solitude. Bring your own supplies as facilities are limited.
3. Lempuyang Temple — The Real Gate of Heaven
Not just an Instagram photo — Lempuyang is a sacred temple complex on Mount Lempuyang with seven levels. The climb to the top takes 2–3 hours, but the views of Mount Agung and the sea from above are spectacular. Use a local guide and dress modestly.
4. Munduk — The Village Above the Clouds
This small village in Buleleng is surrounded by coffee, clove, and waterfall plantations. Cool air, beautiful hiking trails, and far from the southern crowds. Visit Munduk Waterfall and Lake Tamblingan. Perfect for seeing a different side of Bali.
5. Sidemen — The Bali of Old
The Sidemen Valley in Karangasem offers spectacular terraced rice paddies without the Tegallalang crowds. Villages here are still very traditional, and you can see everyday Balinese life.
