Many guides describe Melasti as accessible through the day, but ticket, parking, toilet, and warung hours are often narrower - confirm the day before via your agent. Adult entry is about IDR 8,000 Domestic / IDR 10,000 International; children about IDR 2,000 / IDR 5,000 (snapshot; can change). Parking is separate: scooters IDR 2,000, cars IDR 5,000, buses IDR 10,000; bring Indonesian cash at the gate. On the Uluwatu & Pantai Selatan 1 Hari package, Melasti is usually the first midday stop, so do not arrive too late or you will squeeze Pandawa and the Uluwatu buffer. The cliff road winds down to beach-level parking; drive carefully in rain or weekend afternoon queues. Toilets and rinse areas are near beach facilities; conditions may vary. Clear water is photogenic, but waves and currents shift - do not swim on red flags or when staff forbid it. Children and non-swimmers stay on permitted sand with supervision. Shorten or skip in bad weather or if your Uluwatu sunset slot is tight. This is Melasti Ungasan, not the Melasti beach in Tabanan.

From Ngurah Rai Airport about 16 km or 30 minutes, depending on traffic. From Nusa Dua or Jimbaran usually 15-20 minutes; from Kuta or Seminyak about 45-60 minutes. The main access is a paved cliff road between Tebing Kembar down to beach-level parking; tickets and parking are often paid at the gate. Ride-hailing may drop you at beach level, but pick-up is often at the upper gate - allow an uphill walk. Parking is IDR 2,000 scooters / IDR 5,000 cars / IDR 10,000 buses.

1. Walk the shoreline under the limestone cliffs, staying in permitted stretches along the south-facing bay.

2. Photograph Tebing Kembar (the road between the twin limestone cliffs) and the clear water from allowed spots, morning or early afternoon before late traffic.

3. Wade or swim lightly only when waves are calm and staff permit the zone; follow red flags.

4. Pause briefly at a local warung or shaded area if time allows, then leave before your Pandawa and Uluwatu buffer runs out.

How long should I spend at Melasti?

About 60-75 minutes including cliff photos, a sand walk, and a short rest.

Is swimming safe at Melasti?

It depends on waves and the zone that day. Keep to shallow water when calm, follow staff and red flags. Confirm with your agent if unsure.

When is it quietest?

Weekday mornings or early afternoon are usually easier than weekend late afternoons.

First midday stop (stop 1) on the Uluwatu & Pantai Selatan 1 Hari package, about 75 minutes dwell, before Pandawa (about 90 minutes) and Pura Uluwatu. The slot suits cliff and clear-water photos by day, then leave on time so you still have traffic buffer to Pecatu, especially on weekends.
